Summary

Join us for a day of visiting and learning about turtle conservation at the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre, Melaka.

Detailed description

Date : 18th November 2023

Time: Starting at 2.00pm - 4.30pm (if there are turtle hatchlings to release, the program will continue at 6.30pm to about 7.30pm. This is of course subject to the availability of hatchlings, that we will only know on the event day)

Location:  Pusat Konservasi dan Penerangan Penyu, Padang Kemunting, Masjid Tanah, Melaka

Additional: Bring extra clothes to wash up after the activity. Do bring any personal medication if necessary. 


Tentative Program:

  1. Welcome and Opening by Sustainability Solutions
  2. Welcome by Pusat Konservasi dan Penerangan Penyu
  3. Introduction to Turtles
  4. Visit to the Gallery
  5. Visit to the Turtle Pond (with activity, tentatively to clean the pond, subject to conditions)
  6. Visit to the Turtle Hatchery (with activity, tentatively to clean the hatchery, subject to conditions)
  7. Turtle hatchling release (subject to availability of hatchlings)


Visit Fees:

  • Adult (18 years and above) : RM50 per person
  • School kids (6 to 17 years) : RM25 per person
  • Kids (3 to 5 years) : RM 10 per person
  • Toddlers (2 years and below) : Free


Attire:

Suitable clothes and shoes, including cap or hat. Gloves will be provided.


Meals

There will not be any meals provided, but you are welcome to bring your own food and have a picnic afterwards. Bear in mind, no polystyrene containers are allowed. Do bring along a bottle of water. Please do not feed any wildlife.


E-certs: 

Will be provided to participants based on the attendance registration on the event day. Please ensure you have keyed in your email address and name correctly for the registration and event day attendance. Please do register as well even if you do not need the e-cert, for our record on the number of participants attending.


Contributions:

The Turtle Conservation Centre seeks support in kind to upkeep the hatchery. We will contributing some items from the ticket sales. However, you are most welcome to contribute additionally. You can bring the items on the day of the visit. Here are the items of request.

1. Latex gloves size M or L

2. Garbage bags

3. Sandpaper grade 360

4. Cotton gloves

5. Insect repellent spray

6. Broom


Registration will be open until 15th November 2023 or when the participant number reaches 60 pax (First Registered First Served).
